Anything Star Wars prequel-related is more likely to get sneers than cheers these days, but as the image above reveals, it also leads to Liam Neeson and Samuel L. Jackson being transformed into cartoon fowl, as the newly announced Angry Birds Star Wars II looks to more specifically caricature the actors who portray the characters.
In keeping with current trends to maximize merchandising, the new game also introduces 30 collectible figures that unlock characters in-game. This makes sense on one level, as Angry Birds figures by necessity have simple sculpts and no articulation, so you might as well find them a new gimmick. Where I think it may fail, though is in ignoring the fact that these games are primarily for portable devices…and your collection of 30 toys isn’t something that just fits in a pocket or two.
But in case you were wondering…
At this point we will not comment on rumors or speculation that Jar Jar Binks will be in the game.
After the jump – silhouettes of all the major characters, and a live-action trailer featuring prequel-worthy acting, if you know what I mean.
