Futurama Transport Tubes Are Real…for Burgers

futuramatube.jpg

Good New…Zealand, everyone! A burger joint down under, inspired by the Matt Groening cartoon, has created a series of transparent tubes designed to transport your burgers from kitchen to table at 85 miles per hour, literalizing the concept of fast food. Oh, and since the slim, oil-cooked potato slices that normally accompany such things will arrive too, you really can see a Fry use this transportation of the future. (Though the non-embeddable video strikes me as curiously un-futuristic.)

In a distinctly Professor Farnsworthian style, there are also potentially dangerous side effects:

“A cannister at that speed could take someone’s hand off…We certainly don’t want to be known for that.”

Ah, the double-edged sword of fame.
