It’s an oft-voiced fanboy fantasy to have a Batman movie set in the ’30s, done Bob Kane-style, but given the box office track record of ’30s-era superhero movies like The Phantom and The Shadow, it’s probably a pipedream in live-action.

But in animation? Your wish has just been granted by the man you’d most expect. Enjoy.
