Chicago Scores the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, aka the Star Wars Museum

Sorry, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Chicago just landed the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art, which will feature over 500,000 pieces of movie memorabilia from George Lucas’ personal collection.

Lucas’ wife is from Chicago, and the couple has a home there, which was probably a bigger draw than Lucas’ Southern California ties and L.A. mayor Eric Garcetti’s #WhyLucasInLA social media strategy. You know what they say: Hashtags aren’t where the heart is.

The memorabilia in Lucas’ collection is from movies that aren’t necessarily set in a galaxy far, far away. Here’s hoping he has some of those crazy Star Wars posters from Hungary, Russia, Ghana and Japan.
