And you thought the new Aquaman was grimdark! Here in Hollywood, we actually do have some borderline characters who dress as Batman for photo-ops, so it wouldn’t surprise me if one snapped…
Actually, it’s a lighter-hearted tale than it seems. The man in question was a huge comic-book fan, and his official cause of death, following surgery for cancer, had yet to be determined. The local newspaper, however, had a longstanding policy that it would not run an obituary without an official cause (though they had technically stopped enforcing it). So his best friend and his father agreed to blame Batman.
Once again, the Dark Knight takes the heat. But considering the folks involved clearly enjoyed being jokers, some confusion is understandable.
