Rock Burton! Dwayne Johnson Remaking Big Trouble in Little China (Really)

So, you have the #1 box office hit in the country, sold with your star power. What do you do next?

If you’re Dwayne Johnson, you board the ol’ Pork-Chop Express. Apparently, Big Trouble in Little China is one of his favorite movies. Here is where I’d normally say, “It’s one of ours too, so leave it the fuck alone!” except that I think after multiple roles as a generic good-guy family man, the role of a lovable screw-up who totally fails to be the hero of his own story and won’t even kiss the girl is exactly the kind of part Dwayne Johnson needs. And it’s the kind of lead role no studio will likely allow unless it comes as a pre-sold brand.

If this brings back the version of Johnson we saw in Be Cool and Pain and Gain, I’m interested. If he changes it to make Burton a generic action hero, I will turn on him quickly. How about you?
