Charlton Heston Dies, Damn Dirty Apes Held for Questioning

Charton Heston died this past Saturday night at the age of 84, and it makes me sad. I know that his last decade or so was spent leading the NRA, waving guns and being incredibly conservative, but in his prime, Heston was awesome?he sacrificed his pay to help Orson Welles make Touch of Evil, he campaigned against the Hollywood blacklist, and even marched for civil rights. That, and he made films like Ben Hur, The Omega Man, and so many others. I think he deserves to be remembered for both, although I admit I’m partial to the era where he crusaded against monkeys.
