Stan Lee Might Actually Be Turning Japanese
Apparently, a manga with Shaman King‘s Hiroyuki Takei isn’t enough for Stan Lee. Newtype magazine (the still-running Japanese one, not the defunct American one) has reported that Stan is part of an upcoming anime, unpleasantly called Hero Man,” which will be animated by Studio Bones of Fullmetal Alchemist fame. I’ll let ANN summarize it for me, as I’m lazy:
The story will center on a boy named Joey who discovers a toy robot near the west coast of the United States. Then, the toy becomes Hero Man, a giant robot that Joey pilots against evil threats.
Hmm. So it’s a Japanese giant robot cartoon set in America with American tropes? That could be brilliant, but it’s likely 90% more likely to be totally lame. Sorry, Stan, but at least you’re still awesome:
