Ryan Gosling as Green Lantern, Josh Brolin as Jonah Hex…and…uh…Mike Myers as…Martian Manhunter

Okay, that last one is a total lie, but I’m equally baffled at the other casting rumors, which are real (in the sense that they are rumors that exist, not that they are necessarily true). I guess Josh Brolin has never been known for discriminating in his parts, but he’s been on a pretty good role with No Country For Old Men and his much ballyhooed performance in W; while obviously he’d make a swell Jonah Hex, I can’t imagine Brolin agreeing to be in a comic book movie?no matter how they’re perceived nowadays?after slumming in so many goofy-ass movies during the ’80s and ’90s. So even though Hollywood Elsewhere says this is happening, I’m not surprised to learn Brolin and his reps are utterly denying it.

But really baffles me is the thought of Ryan Gosling playing Hal Jordan, as mentioned by Latino Review. Now, Ryan Gosling is exactly the kind of great, young actor who has made the recent crop of superhero movies awesome, much like Christian Bale and Robert Downey Jr. However?Hal Jordan/Green Lantern is very much a square-jawed, rather built fighter pilot kind of a guy, and Gosling looks like an enormous baby (with a terrible goatee). I’m sure he could work out, but it’s hard to imagine the Green Lantern with a weak chin.
