DVD Day: May 12th, 2009
? Star Trek Motion Picture Collection
All six movies on Blu-ray, plus a bonus disc called “The Captain’s Summit, where William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, Patrick Stewart and Jonathan Frakes talk Trek. Alas, it’s hosted by Whoopi Goldberg. I do really dig the covers, admittedly.
? Underworld: Rise of the Lycans
Instead of ripping off the Vampire and Werework RPGS, this one rips of the Vampire and Werewolf: The Dark Ages RPGs. I still like Rhona Mitra, tho’.
? Seth MacFarlane’s Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy
No comment. The Blu-ray version is uncensored, so you can… hear them curse, I guess? Exciting.
? Galaxy Quest: Deluxe Edition
A fine comedy and Trek parody, plus the deluxe edition has Sigorney Weaver rapping.
? Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Season 7
Divided into four DVD “slices,” sold for $10 each and containing about 7 episodes. Apparently they go to Europe for a while, and that’s all I could be bothered to find out.
? The Best of Star Trek: TOS and Next Generation
They each have one disc with four episodes apiece. TOS includes “City on the Edge of Forever,” “Trouble with Tribbles,” “Balance of Terror” and “Amok Time;” TNG contains “Best of Both Worlds Pt. 1
and 2,” “Yesterday’s Enterprise” and “The Measure of A Man.” Reasonable for $10.
? Man with the Screaming Brain & Alien Apocalypse
Two terrible Bruce Campbell movies on one convenient pack. I think we’re required by law to buy this thing, right?
