Is This the New Avengers Team?

?Right now, Marvel is wrapping up it’s Siege storyline and destroying its Avengers titles (yet again); Joe Quesada said the next chapter would be The Heroic Age, where the superheroes acts like superheroes and don’t have Civil Wars and bad guys aren’t in charge and so forth. Ignoring the inherent awkwardness of a superhero universe getting back to being superheroic, I’m certainly all for moving past the needlessly bleak comics of the ’00s, aren’t you?
So Marvel released this teaser image for “The Heroic Age,” and Kevin Melrose at Comic Book Resources’ Robot 6 blog seems to think it’s also the line-up for the new Avengers team. After reading his thoughts, I tend to agree, and as an Avengers fan, I’m certainly intrigued. I’d feel crappy cutting and pasting Melrose’s thoughts entirely, but suffice to say he thinks the selection of characters is too weird to be a Marvel pastiche, yet just weird enough to be an Avengers roster. Also, he’s pretty sure that Steve Rogers is Captain America, despite the Cap-Bucky outfit, and that Bucky might be Hawkeye (well, someone is, since Hawkeye is currently dead. again).
