Mattel Thinks Girls Are Monsters

?Not content to make DC action figures for the masses and Masters of the Universe figures for fans who mange to get MattyCollector.com to load between 12:01 pm and 12:03 pm on the 15th of each month, Mattel is introducing a new toyline aimed at girls: Monster High. I
don’t want to blow your mind, but it’s about girls, who are monsters,
and are also in high school. That’s the first assortment of dolls for pre-order abve, courtesy of Entertainment Earth, including: “Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf,
Frankie Stein and Lagoona Blue.”

Actually, I think the dolls are reasonably cute. If I had a daughter, I’d buy them for her, although I’s probably ask her to give them less stupid names. Frankly, I think Monster High is a pretty damned good idea, given all the girly-interest in vampires and werewolves nowadays; basically, these things are Gothic Barbies, which would likely sell all right even without the Twilight phenomenon.

What I wonder how many girls will actually be in this series without an actual cartoon attached to it (Mattel is doing some kind of web series and book accompaniment for the line, but I doubt that’ll matter). Nerd girls, sound off in the comments — yay or nay?
