Topic Discussion: Zombie Jedi

?

This isn’t a hypothetical. Red Harvest will be the book sequel to the zombie Stormtrooper book Deathtroopers, both by author Joe Schreiber, and as you can tell be the cover, the zombie threat has been upgraded from Stormtroopers to Jedi. Awesome title aside, there’s a nerd civil war going on in my brain right now at the concept.

See, the whole point of the Force, as explained in the movies, is it was the energy of all living things. I’m pretty sure rocks had it, but only because they were part of nature; I don’t think the Death Star or other man-made things did. The point, if you’re a reanimated corpse, I don’t think you should be able to use the Force. Hell, even dead Obi-Wan and Yoda — who were part of the Force — couldn’t use the Force to effect the environment, just call Luke and give him orders or show up for parties. So zombie Jedi make zero sense to me, and they piss me off (also, those Force-negating ysalamir creatures from the Timothy Zahn books also pissed me off, since as living creatures the Force is also part of them, and they shouldn’t be able to basically negate life, because that’s fucking stupid. But we’ll save that for another time).

On the other hand, zombie Jedi sound fucking awesome.

So I don’t know. Maybe these zombie Jedi actually can’t use the Force in the books, and instead are just zombies who happens to wield lightsabers, which my nerd mind could be down with. I’m not too worried that zombism in the Star Wars universe is different from regular zombism; I can deal with variations of that. Just don’t contradict the movies, Schreiber. I guess we’ll find out in December, when the book is released. (Via StarWars.com)
