Whatever the Hell You’re Thinking About, George Lucas, Stop It

?From the Daily Mail‘s interview with Mel Smith (director and dude who played the Albino in Princess Bride):

George is obsessed with [CGI] and used too much in the last two Star Wars films — which I thought were ghastly.

‘He’s
been buying up the film rights to dead movie stars in the hope of using
computer trickery to put them all together in a movie, so you’d have
Orson Welles and Barbara Stanwyck appear alongside today’s stars.’
Whether Lucas’ attempt to superimpose the golden-era stars on to today’s
screens is doomed to failure or not, Smith will be too busy to be part
of it.

Smith directed Radioland Murders for Lucas, and that’s how the topic came up. Now, whether this is true or not — I don’t know why Smith would know this information, and not, say, anybody else — it’s a bit worrying, because it sounds like something Lucas would do, and –without fear of hyperbole — I think it is very possibly the worst idea anyone in the world has ever had. You knock this shit off, Lucas. Put the dead actors back where you found them, and we’ll all forget this ever happened.
