BREAKING: The Spider-Man Musical Is Still Unbelievably @#$%ed

?Heh. Heh heh. Heh ha ha HA HA HA (from Deadline):

I’m told that the producers of the troubled Broadway musical Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark
have hired Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to rewrite the book originally done
by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger.  Considering that one of the criticisms
of the show is that it lacks an insider’s voice about the webslinger,
Aguirre-Sacasa is a strong choice. While his credits include most
recently writing a new book to the Charles Strouse/Lee Adams musical It’s A Plane, It’s SUPERMAN! that was a hit at the Dallas Theatre Center, he has also written Spider-Man comics for Marvel.

The bold is mine. Now, please recall that the Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark musical was first conceived of and written in 2007. It has taken FOUR FUCKING YEARS for them to decide, “You know, maybe we should get someone who knows the tiniest fucking thing about Spider-Man to come in and take a look at the script.” This is outstanding.

Gee. I wonder if having a new guy rewrite the entire script will in any way impact the musical’s fifth announced opening night on March 15th? Nah, surely not. That’s like three and a half full weeks! More than enough time to fix all the problems that Turn Off of the Dark‘s had for the last four years. Hee hee!
