Screw the Mayor, Let’s Give Detroit a Robocop Statue Anyways

?On Wednesday, I mentioned that Mayor Dave Bing of Detroit had shot down the idea of building a Robocop statue as a fun way of bringing a little prestige and a more positive image to the city. Well, Bing may work for Dick Jones, but many other people do not — someone has started an official donation page to build a statue of the famed half-man, half-robot, all cop somewhere in the city. Right now, the site has raised $11,000 of its $50,000 goal — not bad, seeing as there’s 43 days left. I know there’s an argument to made about people donating money to more important Detroit needs, but I do so love the idea of the mayor having to deal with publicity problem posed by a completely free Robocop statue.
