Super Terrific Japanese Thing: Helping

I hadn’t intended on discussing the earthquake in Japan, the troubles with the Fukushima nuclear plant, or all the destruction and death and turmoil there. Obviously, there are plenty of other, more legitimate sources for that sort of thing, and to an extent, anything I say on my stupid little nerd blog is more obnoxious than helpful. Still, I can’t run an article called Super Terrific Japanese Thing this week that doesn’t call attention to those helping Japan to recover from this tragedy.

? The American Red Cross is by all accounts one of the best places to donate to help those in need. You can text “REDCROSS” to 90999 to easily donate $10.
? After everyone else evacuated, 200 workers at the Fukushima power plant have stayed to try to combat the problems and leaks amidst unknown radiation levels and prevent another disaster. These men are heroes.
? Matt Alt’s Twitter account is hands down the best, most accurate source for news on Japan and theearthquake’s aftermath. While even legitimate news sources in Japan and abroad are filing erroneous reports and fear-mongering, Alt, through his network of friends and contacts, is patiently explaining what’s happening, what’s incorrect, how life in Japan is returning to normal, and most importantly, truly admitting when things aren’t know.
