Now than Green Lantern: Emerald Knights is out, so is the preview for DC’s next straight-to-DVD animated feature, Batman: Year One. Now, there’s not any really footage, just a few character designs and the normal assorted talking heads of Bruce Timm, Andrea Romano, Dan Didio, and the voice actors. But those voice actors… Bryan Cranston is going to make a perfect Jim Gordon, I have no doubt, but I think Eliza Dushku as Selina Kyle is just going to sound like Eliza Dushku. But my real problem is Ben McKenzie of Southland and The O.C. as Batman. I think McKenzie a decent actor, but listen to him in this video — he sounds horrible. He sounds utter devoid of personality as Bruce Wayne, and his Batman sounds like he’s doing a shitty impression of Christian Bale’s already ridiculous Batman voice. He may actually be worse than Billy Baldwin from Crisis on Two Earths, and I didn’t even think that was possible.(Via The Daily What)
Robert Bricken is one of the original co-founders of the site formerly known as Topless Robot, and its first editor-in-chief, serving from 2008-12. He brought the site to prominence with “nerd news, humor and self-loathing” as its motto, raising it from total internet obscurity to a readership in the millions, with help from his savage “FAQ” movie reviews and Fan Fiction Fridays. Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others. He is currently the managing editor of io9.com. Despite decades as both an amateur and professional nerd, he continues to be completely unprepared for either the zombie apocalypse or the robot uprising.
