Oh Hai John Carter
Did we know the John Carter trailer was coming out this week? Well, if we did, I forgot, but here it is anyways. I think the cover of the Arcade Fire song is a weird choice, but it does strike an oddly un-Disney-ish tone, which is very intriguing. And I like how all the Martian stuff isn’t too alien, but a pretty reasonable interpretation of what Edgar Rice Burroughs would have considered weird and alien in his time. Speaking of, does Burroughs have a role in the movie? Weird. Still, all in all, I’m pretty excited. I only wish they’d kept the title John Carter of Mars. Believe it or not, Disney, “John Carter” isn’t so fascinating a name that it adding another goddamned planet to it wouldn’t help.
