Paramount’s “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation” has just enlisted Walton Goggins, adding the Emmy-nominated “Justified” star to its rebooted cast, Variety’s Josh Dickey exclusively reports.Goggins will play Warden Nigel James in the action sequel, directed by Jon Chu (“Justin Bieber: Never Say Never”).
This, seriously, is the best news I’ve heard about the G.I. Joe sequel so far. I love Justified (a show about Kentuckians where people have southern accents but aren’t necessarily imbeciles? Madness!) and Walton Goggins is fantastic on it. My only regret is that he’s just playing a warden, presumably of the jail housing Cobra Commander — I’d love for him to be a Cobra villain proper. He’s have made an amazing Firefly or Zartan, frankly.
