Voltron’s One-Touch Transformation Is Also Bad-Touch Transformation

When I first mentioned Mattel’s Voltron collector’s club subscription thingie and the massive, 23-inch Voltron toy that comes with it, one thing I failed to mention was the individual lions’ “one-touch transformation” feature, because I wasn’t sure exactly how that worked and thus couldn’t describe it. Apparently, Mattel is also having a tough time describing it, because now that we can all see the “one-touch transformation ” in this video, it’s very obviously “several-touch transformation.” It’s still kinda cool — you insert the accompanying Voltron key to get each lion’s legs to pop out, as well as open the cockpit — but you have to insert the key three times to make all that happen. And then you still have to rearrange each leg, and then get the tail yourself. It’s fine, really, it’s just by no means “one-touch.”

God forbid this video is blocked internationally, but just in case — the reason for the article title is because to make the front legs pop out, you insert the Voltron key into the lion’s chest. To make the cockpit pop open, you insert the key into the lion’s back. And to make the back legs pop out, you insert the key into the lion’s asshole. Frankly, I think that’s a bonus. You get a nigh two-foot-tall Voltron figure and five robotic lions you can sodomize — that’s what they call added play value, my friends. Thanks to Kingtao Leong for the tip.
