Only You Can Prevent Me and Topless Robot from Appearing in the Star Command Game

?Remember a couple of weeks ago, when I told you about Star Command, the sci-fi Game Dev Story-type iPhone/iPad/Android game, and how fun and funny it looked, and how it needed money to get finished? Well, there’s one thing I didn’t tell you.

If you saw its Kickstarter page, you possibly saw how if you donated $1000 bucks, your likeness would be put into the game as character. Well, Topless Roboteer Fushichou187 — who sent me the tip in the first place — had the idea for me to ask all you other Topless Roboteers who were planning on pledging money to Star Command to do it on TR‘s behalf in hopes of reaching $1,000 and getting me an appearance in the game. While I was genuinely touched by Fushichou187’s idea, I felt like I’d be even more of an asshole than usual to ask you guys to do that for me. So I didn’t mention it.

Which is when Fushichou187 contacted Warballoon, the makers of Star Command, about it on his own.

They, apparently, are fans of TR. And they’re willing to mark anybody’s pledge — past or future — as money towards putting me in the game. They’re even thinking of adding an entire race of topless robots, they said. Seriously. All you need to do is pledge here — and then email [email protected] your name and pledge amount, and it’ll be counted on behalf of Topless Robot. If you’ve already pledged money, just email that address, give them your name and the amount you pledged previously. That’s it.

I know how many people read TR at least once each month, and how if
you each pledged $1, I’d raise way, way more than $1,000 (way more). Plus, Star Command already met its goal. Plus, the game is definitely getting made
at this point. So the only thing standing between me and the site making
an appearance is you.

But even though this is Fushichou187’s idea and Warballoon is
totally behind it, I feel like a jerk for even asking you to consider doing
this. I’m not going to pretend I wouldn’t find this totally fucking
awesome; I mean, I’d love to be a character in the game. But for Topless Robot to actually become part of the story? My god, that would be amazing. I can’t ask you to donate for me — I feel funny even asking you to think about it. I’m just letting you know that this opportunity exists. Even if it doesn’t happen, my thanks to anyone who considers it, to Warballoon for being so awesome, and especially Fushichou187 for making it happen at all. I’m honored. Really.
