Stephen King Is Writing a Sequel to The Shining Starring Elderly Vampires

I’m serious. King has officially announced his next book will be titled Dr. Sleep and be a sequel to The Shining. This would be fine — weird, slightly upsetting, but technically fine — if King hadn’t read a passage of Dr. Sleep at George Mason University recently, and it was all about — and I shit you not — vampires disguised as elderly retired people traveling the country in motor homes and campers. The video of the reading is above, but don’t expect anything to tie it to The Shining in there — it’s not like they check into The Overlook Hotel at the end of the passage or anything. Nope, just vampires driving things with “Ask me about my grandkids!” bumper stickers. It’s a horror story, all right, I’m just not sure King isn’t part of the narrative here.
