DVD Day: October 25th, 2011
?? Captain America
My review of the movie is here. I just realized I still don’t own Thor yet. Goddammit.
? Jurassic Park Ultimate Trilogy
On Blu-ray. In a special package. There’s a gift set with a dinosaur statue in it for $30 more. Your call, I guess.
? Attack the Block
The by-all-accounts awesome tale of London street thugs versus an alien invasion.
? Robot Chicken Season 5
That’s weird. A new Robot Chicken clip premieres just before a new Robot Chicken DVD release? What are the odds!
? Tom & Jerry Golden Collection Vol. 1
On Blu-ray. I know some people think Tom and Jerry are brilliant, so here you go. If it’s not obvious, I am not one of these people.
? Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Vol. 3 and Vol. 4
Goddammit if this cartoon doesn’t come out in a full season one box set I’m going to… write something very angry on the internet. Probably with profanity in it.
? Young Justice Season One Vol. 2
Goddammit if this cartoon doesn’t come out in a full season one box set I’m going to be somewhat annoyed. Not enough to write anything about it, though. Just mildly peeved.
? Naruto Shippuden the Movie: Bonds
Apparently it’s not awful, which for a movie based on a long-running shonen series is pretty good.
? The People Vs. George Lucas
The documentary about Star Wars fans who hate hate hate George Lucas. I remember when I watched the trailer and saw people so consumed with rage that I felt sympathy for George, and decided to cut him some slack. And yet, one Darth Maul announcement and one crappy 3-D movie poster, and I’m back to making fun of him again. Oh, George, why do you make it so difficult for us to love you!
? The Night Shift
An immortal guy works as a night caretaker at a cemetery. Sounds a bit like Cemetery Man, but apparently the zombies are a given and there’s actually an entirely different evil adversary lurking around. It got some good reviews, so it might be worth checking out.
? John Barrowman Live Collector’s Edition
I have no idea if this concert DVD contains John Barrowman doing anything nerdy, but I know that Barrowman singing and dancing and gadding about is more than entertainment enough for some nerds. For those people, you’re welcome.

About The Author
Robert Bricken is one of the original co-founders of the site formerly known as Topless Robot, and its first editor-in-chief, serving from 2008-12. He brought the site to prominence with “nerd news, humor and self-loathing” as its motto, raising it from total internet obscurity to a readership in the millions, with help from his savage “FAQ” movie reviews and Fan Fiction Fridays. Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others. He is currently the managing editor of io9.com. Despite decades as both an amateur and professional nerd, he continues to be completely unprepared for either the zombie apocalypse or the robot uprising.
