Today in Ridley Scott Nonsense

?Part the First: Scott told the Wall Street Journal how his non-Alien prequel Prometheus is a prequel to Alien:

The last eight minutes of the “Prometheus” story evolve into “a pretty good DNA of the ‘Alien’ one.”

/Film goes onto say that the movie adheres to the Prometheus myth, where Prometheus (a.k.a. whoever) steals fire (a.k.a. technology) and gives it to humans (a.k.a. humans) and then gets punished for it (a.k.a. xenomorphs jumping out of your gut, probably). So… all right, I guess. (Via /Film)

Part the second: Scott also confirmed that he’ll be working on that long-threatened Blade Runner sequel next, and that it won’t star Deckard. Half me is glad he’s not trying to shoehorn Deckard back in, or bringing back 185-year-old Harrison Ford or recasting the role with Sam Worthington or something, and half of me wonders what Scott possibly wants to tell about the Blade Runner universe that doesn’t need Deckard… or a thinly veiled version of his character…what you might call a “replicant,” if you will. All of me still hates the idea of a Blade Runner sequel no matter what, though. (Via First Showing)
