Spartacus: Vengeance is Face-Slicingly Wholesome
Starz’s latest trailer for Spartacus: Vengeance is supposedly the last before the new season hits on January 27, so it doesn’t tell us much we don’t already know. Spartacus is out of the gladiator pits and leading a rebellion against Rome, Gaius Claudius Glaber is out to stop him, and holy shit did that guy’s FACE get cut off?
Spartacus: Vengeance will inevitably feel different from the first reason, Blood and Sand, simply for featuring Liam McIntyre as Spartacus in place of the recently deceased Andy Whitfield. But Starz seems intent on making the new season just as graphic as the first, in both the rampant bloodshed and frequent sex scenes. Of course, there’s also the conflict of Spartacus choosing between a revenge quickie and the broader needs of his revolt, but the title of the whole thing seems to favor one of those more than the other. We’ll see if there’s truth in that advertising in January.
