?How about some Star Trek 2 casting that’s 1) definitely true and 2) totally awesome? Variety reports that Benedict Cumberbatch, titular star of the phenomenal BBC series Sherlock and portrayer of Smaug in the upcoming Hobbit movies, has been cast as the main villain in Trek 2. This is good news for lots of reasons, mostly because Cumberbatch is beyond awesome, and also because this probably means there’s no Khan in the sequel.
Seriously, there are very few actors I’ll see in anything, but Benedict Cumberbatch is one of them. That’s how much I love Sherlock, frankly. The idea of him being in Star Trek 2 makes my roddenberries swell with delight, and I didn’t even know I had roddenberries.
