Here’s a Look at the Ninja Scroll Sequel That’s Not Happening
The ultraviolent anime Ninja Scroll was one of the earliest anime hits in America, back when video stores had sections called “Japanimation” (also when there were video stores). Japan eventually noticed how much money the movie made over here and made a Ninja Scroll TV series, which was, in a word, fuckingterrible. What they should have done was made a movie sequel that was just as violent and weird as the first one… which Studio Madhouse realized, and made the above trailer for just such a movie, called Ninja Scroll Burst. Which no one will produce. Because the TV show effectively killed Ninja Scroll in America. This trailer is only an extra on the Japanese Ninja Scroll Blu-ray, in fact. This is all you get.
