ABC Is Gluing Gears on Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer

From the Hollywood Reporter:

The network is developing Finn & Sawyer, a contemporary take on Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively.
The drama hails from Detroit 1-8-7 duo Jason Richman and David Zabel and is described as an adventure-themed reinvention that revolves around the two famed literary characters who re-meet as young men in their 20s and form an investigative firm in a bustling and steampunk New Orleans.
…huh. Sounds interesting, although I have no idea why it needs to be Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn. Sad to say, it’s not like audiences are clamoring for more entertainment based on Mark Twain’s classic characters, so I’m not really sure of the benefit there. If anything, I’d imagine most Americans would hear the names Finn and Sawyer and say, “Aren’t they characters from books my teachers tried to make me read in high school? Gross!” and go back to watching The Bachelorette or some shit. And the people who do know and love the characters will likely be annoyed that they’re adults forming a detective agency for some reason. I guess there’s probably a sweet spot in-between the two groups, but it can’t be a lot of people.
Anyways, if someone would take the above picture and photoshop some gears onto them and send it to me for future coverage, I’d be most appreciative.
