First Look at World War ZOMG That Does Not Look Particularly Good

The horrible, soulless automatons at Entertainment Tonight will have the first look at the World War Z movie starring Brad Pitt in a couple of days, but they were kind enough to give us a first look at the first look, and… boy, it does not look particularly good. Maybe it’s because it bears only a passing resemblance to the book (as long rumored), maybe it’s because The Walking Dead has been killing it this season (pun intended SO HARD) or maybe it’s because even I’m getting tired of zombies at this point, but nothing about WWZ looks exciting to me. In fact, the only memorable part of this preview is the cascade of zombies over the truck, but even that looks less like a zombie invasion and more like a horde of slightly decomposing lemmings. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

Robert Bricken is one of the original co-founders of the site formerly known as Topless Robot, and its first editor-in-chief, serving from 2008-12. He brought the site to prominence with “nerd news, humor and self-loathing” as its motto, raising it from total internet obscurity to a readership in the millions, with help from his savage “FAQ” movie reviews and Fan Fiction Fridays. Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others. He is currently the managing editor of io9.com. Despite decades as both an amateur and professional nerd, he continues to be completely unprepared for either the zombie apocalypse or the robot uprising.
