Yeah, I thought Tim Burton had lost his edge a long time ago too. But maybe ditching Johnny Depp and reteaming with Winona Ryder was what it took to get him on track. Because yeah, their video for the Killer’s “Here with Me” has the usual black clothing and spirals and all the stereotypically Burton-y stuff, but it’s also genuinely unsettling and doesn’t feel like goth posing.
In fact, it may be TMI. A creepy kid obsesses over a celebrity and then takes home a mannequin of her that comes to life; is it a stretch to imagine that this is how Burton perceives his leading ladies, or perhaps even Mr. Depp?
And is there a more 2012 lyric in existence than “Don’t want your picture on my cell phone?”
