Reason to Hope for Pirates of the Caribbean 5?

The people who directed this movie just signed to direct the fifth Jack Sparrow showcase.

I haven’t seen Kon-Tiki (I keep thinking of Pom Poko when I hear it) – but it’s the highly acclaimed film about a trans-Pacific voyage on a raft in 1947, shot with minimal special effects. In other words, for the first time in the Pirates franchise, directors with real experience shooting a seafaring flick will be making a big-budget seafaring movie. It’s almost TOO logical. If I had to guess, I’d imagine Jerry Bruckheimer somehow saw the above poster when he accidentally set foot in an arthouse theater, and said, “Hey, that looks mildly like a pirate movie! Get me those people.”

Best of luck to Joachim R?nning and Espen Sandberg. And please give us a good villain – I’m still pissed that Disney added fucking Ian McShane to the actual ride. Not that I hate the man himself – add Al Swearengen to Big Thunder Mountain and I’ll fully back that call.
