Benicio Del Toro to Play Major Marvel Character

He’s going to be appearing first in Guardians of the Galaxy, but continue through several future Marvel movies. Who is he? We don’t yet know. So it’s time to speculate irresponsibly.

He’d be a pretty decent Dr. Strange, no? That seems to me the most likely pick. He’s got to be either an alien, or a character who could reasonably appear in outer space some other way.

Here are my concerns: he was cast in the Cumberbatch role of Star Trek Into Darkness, then dropped out (he’d have been better suited for it, too). Of more concern to Marvel/Disney might be the fact that he never responded to requests to sign off on his likeness for Sin City merchandise (unlike Clive Owen, who flat-out said no) – thus there were no toys of him.

So before we get too excited, let’s maybe make sure he’s really, fully onboard.
