Talk and Relevant Discussions in Snark – Doctor Who “Dark Water” SPOILER Recap

So, now we know who Missy is…

-Well, I’ll say this – “The Mistress” is a better Master than the last guy they got. Seems to me that if a Time Lord’s chosen name is a promise, then a villainous one ought to be black-clad and as mustache-twirling as possible. And nobody really gives a shit about the Rani.

-Now, with that said, the most important ramification here is that Time Lords absolutely can change their gender at will, and therefore, there will be an even more massive outcry next time the Doctor is ready to be recast that it has to be a woman. I suspect Moffat must know this, and is viewing it as a setup. He may be hard-headed in many areas, but I cannot believe he is deaf and dumb.

-Cybermen – spoiled a long time ago, and I called it when the Robin Hood episode made a big deal of gold as a weakness. X-ray water was a fun touch, but the episode still blasphemes the name of one of the scariest movies I’ve ever seen. That said, I wouldn’t mind my corpse deteriorating in a chair under water (after I’m dead, of course). Seems pretty cool.

-I appreciate The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones more and more when I see deaths that I know damn well will be reversed by episode’s end.

-The Cybermen sure like to leave ridiculously obvious hints, don’t they?

-If current Clara is willing to betray the Doctor now, might prior-timestream Clara come and stop her?

-Why is Missy’s afterlife only sucking up humans and other earth-denizens? Wouldn’t she do better if she sucked up Sontarans, for example?

-Loved the way Capaldi finally showed positive feelings. Totally jibes with my take on him as a cranky school teacher.

-Has there been a coherent, non-alternate universe origin for the Cybermen in nu-Who yet? I may have missed it. Or just not have cared enough to take it in.

-Honestly not much of a cliffhanger, really. The Doctor’s beaten the Cybermen many times before.

Your turn.
