Threezero Makes Matrix Toy That McFarlane Screwed up, for 9 Times the Price

I remember how excited I was when McFarlane Toys announced they were making the A.P.U. battle mech from the Matrix sequels, with its elaborate pistons and joints and everything else. How overjoyed I was to get it out of the box and pose it. And how bummed I was when the arm just broke off days later without my even touching it, in a way that was not fixable with glue because of all the slender pistons.

Now threezero are taking it on, this time with electronics and a fully poseable Captain Mifune figure with cloth costume. Why now, I’m not sure – I still have yet to meet many people besides myself who’ll admit to liking the Matrix sequels enough to want collectibles from them (though maybe its name “APU” just makes people want to go, “Thank you, come again”). But in just seven days, you can drop around $400 on this beauty, and get an exclusive ammo loader and extra figure if you buy it directly from threezero. The timing does allow you to integrate this into battles with their similarly high-end Titanfall toys.
