John Carpenter’s… Darkchylde? Really? (Updated)

Update: Okay, I’ve had a few minutes to collect my thoughts, but really, all I can think of is “What?” As in “What on earth is John Carpenter doing by making a live-action adaptation of the Darkchylde comic?” Does John need the money? Does something about the series appeal to him? Hopefully beyond the half-naked demon chick? Is he just anxious to make a movie, any movie? I don’t know. But Carpenter did say this:

the best young female character since Laurie Strode in Halloween.
Bringing Ariel and her dark mysteries to life should be quite an
adventure for us all.”
Now I just think he’s gone crazy. But I’m also of the opinion that anyone who spells “child” as “chylde” should be locked away in an insane asylum. Oh, don’t forget that Weta, who is needlessly doing the effects for this thing, has already leaked some test footage. Whee? (Via Twitch)
