Info and Pics of Blood: The Loneliest Vampire Now Available

Production I.G’s Blood: The Last Vampire anime was exciting and possibly ground-breaking. Production I.G’s Blood+ anime TV series, currently airing on Adult Swim, is angst-y, melodramatic nonsense. The upcoming Blood: The Last Vampire live-action movie seems to be more Blood+ than it’s namesake, if Twitch’s info and stills are any indications.

The pics are okay, I guess?it’s hard to mess up Asian girls in schoolgirl outfits, in all honesty?but the plot details are kind of breaking my heart.

On the surface, Saya is a stunning 16-year-old, but that youthful exterior hides the tormented soul of a 400-year-old ?halfling.? …she has for centuries been a loner obsessed with using her samurai skills to rid the world of vampires, all the while knowing that she herself can survive only on blood like those she hunts. When she is sent onto an American military base in Tokyo by the clandestine organization she works for, Saya immediately senses that this may be her opportunity to finally destroy Onigen, the evil patriarch of all vampires… …However, it is not until she forms her first human friendship in centuries with the young daughter of the base?s general that Saya learns of her greatest power over Onigen may well be her ability for human connection?

I’m not at all upset about changing Saya’s origin or that she now needs to drink the blood of vampires, but does she really need to learn about friendship? She’s a goddamn vampire killing machine. Couldn’t we just watch that instead? A pic of Onigen after the jump.
