Sorry for the oblique title, but the Iron Man anime opening has leaked online, and I’m reasonably sure it won’t be sticking around long. This is, as you’ll recall, the first of five Marvel shows planned by Madhouse, due sometime next year on G4; you also might recall the bewilderingly awesome Iron Man anime video from SDCC 2009, and the significantly less awesome actual TV series footage from SDCC 2010 (both viewable here). Hopefully the show will end up being a happy medium between the two. As for this, it’s very nicely animated, but since it’s the opening credits that means absolutely nothing about the quality of the actual show. All I know is that I think the U.S. Avengers cartoon has the perfect version of Tony Stark/Iron Man, so if this sucks, I won’t lose any sleep. (Via Crimson Monkey)
Robert Bricken is one of the original co-founders of the site formerly known as Topless Robot, and its first editor-in-chief, serving from 2008-12. He brought the site to prominence with “nerd news, humor and self-loathing” as its motto, raising it from total internet obscurity to a readership in the millions, with help from his savage “FAQ” movie reviews and Fan Fiction Fridays. Under his tenure Topless Robot was covered by Gawker, Wired, Defamer, New York magazine, ABC News, and others, and his articles have been praised by Roger Ebert, Avengers actor Clark Gregg, comedian and The Daily Show correspondent John Hodgman, the stars of Mystery Science Theater 3000 and Rifftrax, and others. He is currently the managing editor of io9.com. Despite decades as both an amateur and professional nerd, he continues to be completely unprepared for either the zombie apocalypse or the robot uprising.
