Looks Like Legolas Is Joining the Fellowship of the Hobbit, Too

Deadline is reporting that Orlando Bloom is close to signing a deal to appear as Legolas in one or both of The Hobbit movies. It’s not a done deal yet, but since Cate Blanchett has signed up as the not-appearing-in-the-original-Hobbit-book-at-all Galadriel, I figure this is pretty reasonable rumor. Now, whether, they these guys will show up in Gandalf’s side story — which happened “off-camera” in the book, and will likely be filmed to help pad out the two movies –as many of you suggested, or if Legolas is going to be Bilbo’s old college roommate or something equally weird remains to be seen.

Incidentally, the three LotR characters who do appear in The Hobbit — Gandalf, Elrond and Gollum — well, Ian McKellan, Hugo Weaving and Andy Serkis have yet to sign on to the movie. Hmm. Odd. (Via /Film)
